Make wine make sense — for everyone.
Wine has spent centuries behind scores, jargon, and intimidation. We think the question “will I enjoy this?” deserves a clearer, more honest answer — grounded in chemistry, and calibrated to the person asking.
The wine world is full of confident numbers that quietly ignore the one person they should serve: the drinker holding the bottle. A 92-point score is one expert's palate. A community average is a crowd's. Neither is yours.
Oenra started from a simple, stubborn belief: a wine's flavor is measurable chemistry, a person's preferences are measurable too, and the mapping between them can be modeled — honestly, with its uncertainty on display, and without claiming chemistry decides quality.
We're building that model for everyone in wine at once: the drinker who just wants to love the bottle, and the winery, shop, restaurant, distributor, and lab who make it, sell it, and pour it. One model, from the molecule to the glass.
Principles we build by.
Preference is personal
There is no single right answer to whether a wine is good. We model the person, not just the bottle.
Measurement should increase clarity
Chemistry is only worth adding if it makes wine easier to understand — not more intimidating.
Models should explain themselves
An output you can't interrogate isn't trustworthy. Every prediction shows its reasons and its sources.
Confidence should be visible
We'd rather show a wide interval than pretend to certainty we haven't earned.
Expertise should be respected
Critics and sommeliers know things a model doesn't. We add a layer; we don't replace judgment.
The user should control their data
Your palate is yours — to see, correct, and delete. It is never the product we sell.
Chemists and sommeliers in the same room.
Oenra takes real chemistry and real palates seriously — so the work sits deliberately between the two.

Early, and honest about it.
Oenra is a research preview. Some capabilities are experimental, some are pilots, and some are planned. We publish an honest status for each on the science page, and we'd rather say “not yet” than overstate what's real.
Understand the bottle. Understand the person.
